چکیده

The current environmental and industrial contexts require constant revision improvement of hydrotreating processes for obtaining cleaner (bio)fuels through the development supported transition metal sulfide (TMS) catalysts. present work proposes a surface-science approach to describe surface-dependent genesis cobalt-promoted active phase (CoMoS) on α-Al2O3 single crystals used as surrogates γ-Al2O3 support. Co-Mo precursor solutions are deposited by aqueous-phase impregnation onto four C(0001), A(112¯0), M (101¯0), R(11¯02) orientations, which display specific OH sorption sites. model catalysts characterized in oxide states XPS, AFM, TEM revealing surface dependent sulfidation dispersion result metal-support interactions diverse nature. surfaces can be ranked following increasing strength C(0001) < (101¯0) good agreement with non-promoted However, AFM imaging also reveal that cobalt incorporation leads an increase stacking CoMoS particles respect activity thiophene hydrodesulfurization cannot simply related common features (sulfidation, dispersion, promotion extent) but volcano-shape curve is obtained when plotting function interactions. These results suggest high intermediate lead optimal metal-sulfur bond energy Sabatier principle. Transposing these traditional support suggests enhanced (1 0 0) facet, improved supports

Nanostructured hydrotreating catalysts for electrochemical hydrogen evolution.

Progress in catalysis is driven by society's needs. The development of new electrocatalysts to make renewable and clean fuels from abundant and easily accessible resources is among the most challenging and demanding tasks for today's scientists and engineers. The electrochemical splitting of water into hydrogen and oxygen has been known for over 200 years, but in the last decade and motivated b...

Overview of Phosphorus Effect in Molybdenum-Based Hydrotreating Catalysts Supported on Ordered Mesoporous Siliceous Materials

This chapter presents an overview of the literature on the effect of phosphorus modification of ordered mesoporous silica (OMS) such as MCM-41, HMS, SBA-15, and SBA-16 to be used as supports for hydrotreating catalysts based on transition metal sulfides (TMS). The influence of the support modification with variable quantities of phosphorus on the performance for hydrodesulfurization (HDS) and h...

Alkyl chain length-dependent surface reaction of dodecahydro-N-alkylcarbazoles on Pt model catalysts.

The concept of liquid organic hydrogen carriers (LOHC) holds the potential for large scale chemical storage of hydrogen at ambient conditions. Herein, we compare the dehydrogenation and decomposition of three alkylated carbazole-based LOHCs, dodecahydro-N-ethylcarbazole (H12-NEC), dodecahydro-N-propylcarbazole (H12-NPC), and dodecahydro-N-butylcarbazole (H12-NBC), on Pt(111) and on Al2O3-suppor...

Spectroscopy, microscopy and theoretical study of NO adsorption on MoS2 and Co–Mo–S hydrotreating catalysts

Infrared (IR) spectroscopy using NO as a probe molecule has been one of the important methods for characterizing hydrotreating catalysts, since this technique provides information on the nature and quantity of active edge sites of these catalysts. However, due to the strong adsorption of NO, which may lead to significant edge reconstructions, it has not been clear, how the characteristics of th...
